Piercing

PRECARE

Proper preparation helps reduce swelling, bleeding, and irritation for a smoother healing process.

** REMINDER all minors must have a parent present and have Notarized Consent form with them.

24–48 HOURS BEFORE

  • Avoid alcohol and blood thinners (Advil, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E)

  • Stay well hydrated

  • Limit caffeine if you’re sensitive

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

  • Eat a full meal beforehand (helps prevent dizziness)

  • Shower and arrive clean

  • Avoid lotions, oils, or makeup near the area

HAIR + SKIN PREP (FOR EAR/FACIAL PIERCINGS)

  • Keep hair clean and styled away from the area

  • Avoid heavy hair products that can transfer to the piercing

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Bring a valid ID

  • If you are feeling sick or run down, please reschedule

 AFTERCARE

Consistent, minimal aftercare is key. Over-touching and over-cleaning are the most common causes of irritation.

CLEANING ROUTINE (2X DAILY)

  • Use a sterile saline solution

  • Spray directly onto the piercing

  • Let it sit for 30–60 seconds

  • Gently pat dry with clean gauze or paper towel

  • Do not twist or rotate the jewelry

WHAT TO AVOID

  • Do not touch with unwashed hands

  • Do not sleep directly on fresh piercings (use a travel pillow if needed)

  • Avoid submerging in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean for at least 2–3 weeks

  • Avoid alcohol, peroxide, or ointments

  • Do not remove or change jewelry too early

HEALING EXPECTATIONS

  • Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal

  • Clear or pale yellow discharge is normal

  • Crusting may occur during healing

APPROXIMATE HEALING TIMES

  • Earlobes: 6–8 weeks

  • Cartilage (helix, tragus, etc.): 3–9 months

  • Nose: 3–6 months

TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS

  • Keep aftercare simple - less is more

  • Avoid snagging (hair, clothing, headphones)

  • Stay consistent with saline care

  • Use high-quality jewelry (implant-grade titanium or solid gold)

WHEN TO REACH OUT

  • Excessive swelling, throbbing pain, or heat

  • Thick yellow or green discharge

  • Jewelry embedding or sinking into the skin

  • Signs of migration or rejection

**IMPORTANT NOTE**
If jewelry becomes fully embedded in the skin, it cannot be safely removed in-studio and will require removal by a medical professional (urgent care or physician). We strongly recommend monitoring your piercing closely during healing and following all aftercare instructions. If you notice early signs of embedding, please reach out right away so we can assist before it progresses.

PRO TIP
A well-healed piercing comes from consistency, not overcare. Keeping things clean and minimal will always give you the best results.
